Crowns

A crown is a cast restoration that is fitted onto a broken or a weakened tooth to restore or to reinforce it.

Crowns can be fitted to repair broken teeth, to reinforce weak teeth e.g. following root canal therapy, to cover discoloured or improperly shaped teeth, to close gaps between teeth or to facilitate other dental rehabilitation.

Crowns can be made of these materials either in isolation or in combination; metals, porcelain, acrylic, polycarbonate or glass ionomer cement (reinforced with zirconium). The crowns can be computer designed and machine milled or hand designed and fabricated by a technician. They are then fitted in the mouth by a dentist.Dr Odoyo E
